Retro on the Runway is just a few days away, and today we had a chance to talk with yet another craft vendor who will be in attendance––Elizabeth Scott from EJ Woodshop. Read on to learn more about her journey into woodworking and learning how to craft one-of-a-kind furniture.

HELLO! START BY TELLING US WHO YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU'RE FROM.
I'm Elizabeth, owner and furniture maker of EJ Woodshop. Pharmacy student by day, wood work by night. I was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas.

WHEN DID YOU BEGIN CRAFTING AND HOW DID YOU GET INTO IT?
I started a little over two years ago. My house needed furniture and my brain needed a creative outlet. I killed two birds with one stone and ended up falling in love with the lumberyard, sawdust, and power tools.

WHAT KINDS OF THINGS INSPIRE YOU MOST?
Anything handmade, sincere, rustic and dirty. All kinds of woods. An original idea. A journey. The Ozarks.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT CRAFTING IN NORTHWEST ARKANSAS?
The people. There is so much love for the local artisan and craftsman. The creative community is so infectious and inherently Northwest Arkansas. What is there no to love?

ARE THERE SPECIFIC THINGS YOU ENJOY CREATING THE MOST?Wooden furniture that is modest and resilient. I love the simplicity and rawness of wood, and I'm passionate about the journey involved in taking an idea and drawing plans and constructing it into something tangible.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ABOUT RETRO ON THE RUNWAY?
Collaborating with the NWA creative community that gives life to events such as this.
